History

The birth of the brewery

At the beginning of 2018, on a snowy Saturday, a group of friends got together in one of their garages and brewed their first batch of the beer that these amateur brewers called Grizzly.

After 18 months of trial and error, they finally came up with a recipe. Olivier, one of the amateur brewers, decided to market the beer, and L’Oubéwé was born.

Oubéwé?

Oubéwé is an acronym for a region of Wallonia, corresponding to the west of Walloon Brabant.

Its seven municipalities are Rebecq, Tubize, Ittre, Braine-le-Château, Waterloo, Braine-l’Alleud and Nivelles.

They have a total population of 130,000.

The brewery evolves and expands

In 2023, we moved into our new buildings. A microbrewery (that’s the one) and a tasting room will be installed. This is your chance to visit the brewery and see the facilities.

The inauguration took place in June 2023.
